About Jonathan

I've spent nearly two decades working in international higher education . What makes my background unusual is that I've done it from both sides of the table.

I started my career in institutional leadership, serving as a Senior International Officer at U.S. universities where I was responsible for international enrollment, partnership development, and global strategy. I know what it's like to sit in those meetings, weigh competing institutional priorities, and make decisions with limited budgets and high expectations.

From there, I moved into the commercial side of the industry, leading business development and go-to-market strategy for global EdTech companies. I've built a $220M partner pipeline, scaled a North American operation from zero to $6M ARR, and grown enrollment revenue 20x at a single university. I've also been recognized with an AIEA Presidential Fellowship and a ForumEA Inaugural Fellowship for my work advancing international education access.

That combination (genuine institutional experience plus commercial results) is rare. And it's the foundation of everything Jonathan Lee Consulting offers.

At the core of everything I do is a belief I've carried throughout my career: every student in the world who wants access to global education should be able to get it. That conviction shapes how I work with both institutions and EdTech companies. I'm not interested in deals or engagements that don't ultimately move that needle.
